Launched during February 2019, the “Aharenge Bank” Community Fund aims to empower individuals to contribute to their communities through sustainable projects and is a campaign to emphasize the bank’s commitment to bond with the people. The fund invites proposals that improve the ‘overall spirit of their respective communities, promote sustainability and provide social opportunities’.
This year’s project submission was divided into three phases with five proposals selected in the first two phases.
Noting that a number of great proposals was submitted for the fund for the third quarter, BML’s Manager of Public Relations Mohamed Saeed thanked the individuals and NGOs involved in initiating these projects and working tirelessly to deliver it.
While the national bank has now provided funding for projects in 40 islands across the country under the Aharenge Bank fund, with the completion of the 10 new projects announced on Monday, it would have supported 50 such projects.
BML allocates MVR 50,000 to each project in the areas of education, environment, sports and community development under the Aharenge Bank Community Fund initiative.
