There has been a decrease in unlinked local Covid-19 cases, according to the Health Protection Agency (HPA).
As per HPA’s statistics, unlinked cases have been gradually decreasing from week 29, towards the end of October.
While 34 unlinked cases were detected from October 28 to November 3, the next week saw 22 cases while there were 19 unlinked cases confirmed during weeks 31 and 32, each.
The agency’s statistics show that most unlinked cases were recorded on week nine, from 10-16 June. While 51 unlinked cases were confirmed during that week, the second highest number was recorded from July 29 to August 4; 50 unlinked cases.
The lowest number of unlinked cases were seen on week seven, which was just six.
While health officials had back in November expressed concern over the increase in cases detected from clinics, after the flu clinic positivity rate rose to nine percent in week 31 from 11-17 November, this increased to 11 percent during week 32. This is alert level two.
Maldives first Covid-19 cases were detected from a resort on March 7, and a community transmission was confirmed on April 15.
The country has recorded 13,143 Covid-19 cases since March. While total recoveries are at 12,199, the recovery rate is 92.82 percent. The island has a mortality rate of 0.36 percent, with 47 deaths confirmed.
