Issues have arisen over President Abdulla Yameen's faction of the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) using government employees and facilities in preparing for its upcoming gathering.

While the gathering is to be held on Thursday night (October 19th), RaajjeMV understands that some staff members at the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure are being kept busy in the preparations, including cleaning up and decorating the Carnival Area for the event.

Expat workers, who were seen making the preparations for the PPM rally, had shared with journalists that they were employees at the housing ministry.

While there have been other cases where the ruling party used government employees and facilities for official party business, the government maintains that they have "never done anything against the law".

At the time of publishing, RaajjeMV was unable to get a comment from the housing ministry over the matter.

Earlier in October, a member of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC), Fathimath Zaina, was seen organizing table numbers and coordinating with other event managers at a political function held by the government.
