The government’s total spending towards Covid-19 health and social efforts have reached MVR 1.32 billion.
While this is a 0.3 percent increase from the previous week, 45.9 percent of total health and social spending was ‘committed-spending’.
Ministry of Finance’s Weekly Covid-19 Spending Report reveals that the Ministry of Health had the highest spending within the week, at MVR two million. State-run Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) spent MVR 1.2 million during this period, on supplies and requisites for service provision.
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has the highest total expenditure thus far, at MVR 787.8 million.
With a total expense of MVR 210.3 million in Covid-19 health and social efforts, the Ministry of Health comes second.
IGMH has spent a total of MVR 82.8 million on health and social efforts.

- Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure – MVR 37.3 million
- Ministry of Higher Education – MVR 3.3 million
- National Social Protection Agency – MVR 7.9 million
- National Drug Agency – MVR 1.1 million
- Disaster Management Fund – MVR 84.1 million
- Tourism Activities Implementation Fund – MVR 29 million
In addition, the total disbursements under Covid-19 Economic Response schemes reached MVR 1.36 billion by November 19.
This is a 1.3 percent increase from the previous week, and the amount was disbursed within the week was for the implementation of the income support allowance scheme; there were no additional disbursements to any other schemes within the period.
