A local man in his 70s has died from Covid-19.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that the 79-year-old passed away on Sunday morning, while receiving treatment at the intensive care unit at the Hulhumale’ Medical Facility.

While Maldives has recorded a total of 43 deaths from Covid-19 – 35 locals and eight foreigners – with two reported in the last 24 hours.

The 57-year-old Maldivian man has succumbed to the virus on Saturday afternoon.

Maldives has confirmed a total of 12,154 Covid-19 cases thus far. While there have been 43 deaths, 11,262 patients have recovered from the virus.
