A total of 46 patients have been treated at the Stroke Center established at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) thus far.
The hospital released a statement in commemoration of World Stroke Day, marked on October 29, highlighting that they had inaugurated services at the Stroke Clinic established on August 17 this year.
The clinic operates on a round-the-clock basis and holds six treatment beds, out of which two were made specifically for patients who require treatment on ventilator support.
Within two months of having begun services at the Stroke Clinic, the hospital admitted at least 40 patients for treatment.
Alongside physiotherapy, speech therapy and diabetics therapy required to return to normal lifestyles, the clinic will also introduce occupational therapy and social worker services in the near future, revealed IGMH.
The Stroke Clinic at IGMH offers regular checkups and treatment for previously treated patients as well as attending to patients as timely and quickly as possible.
IGMH has sought the general public to look out for symptoms of a stroke which include a drooping face, weakness in the limbs as well as difficulty in speech. The Stroke Center provides services with the aim to reduce the possibility of disabilities post strokes.
