Covid-19: two patients receiving treatment in ICU

The Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) has revealed that two coronavirus-stricken patients are currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

During Saturday night's press briefing, HEOC Spokesperson Dr. Nazla Rafeeq stressed the number of hospitalized patients has increased and that one patient was admitted at the ICU of the 11th floor of Dharumavantha Hospital and three in the ward of DH16. The patient in DH11 passed away on Sunday afternoon.

There are 64 patients currently receiving treatment, at the Hulhumalé Medical Facility out of which two are receiving treatment in intensive care.

Dr. Nazla added that six patients are receiving treatment at the Villingili Covid-19 Facility.

A total of 74 patients are being treated at facilities out of which three are being treated in intensive care.

Currently there are no patients on ventilator support.

Healthcare workers active in the response efforts to curb the spread of the pandemic have collected a total of 168،233 samples for Covid-19 testing out of which 10,859 have tested positive. 144 samples have pending results and 1,338 samples were tested from 6pm Friday to 6pm Saturday out of which 51 new cases were confirmed.

120 individuals had visited the flu clinics by 6pm Saturday out of which 108 samples were collected for testing.

Maldives saw 599 arrivals on Saturday, which pushes the total number of arrivals from the date of border reopening till now, to 37,876.
