Majlis committees to complete 12 pending tasks by month-end

The People’s Majlis committees have set deadlines to complete work on 12 out of the pending tasks by month-end.

Some of the work include allocating a minimum wage, as such, the case forwarded by the Economic Ministry will be concluded by October 31.

Further, relevant committees are also to complete all work related to the Police Service Bill, the statistics bill and several others, by the end of the ongoing month.

The committee on independent institutions is set to complete reviewing the 17 nominations for the National Integrity Commission (NIC) by October 11. Interview sessions are currently underway.

A decision on removing Zeena Zahir from the Maldives Broadcasting Commission is also to be reached, on October 18.

The People’s Majlis has revealed that sittings of the ongoing session will proceed through October and November. The third session of the ongoing year began on Monday. It has also been revealed that 28 state-endorsed bills wills be submitted to the ongoing session.

One of the most important work pending for the ongoing session is regarding the State Budget for 2021, to be submitted by the Minister of Finance.
