‘Completely befuddled’, says President Yameen
 
Have to remember there is a day for accountability
 
Accountability cannot be taken by force
 
Completely befuddled by events in the country

President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that he was completely befuddled over the fact that his one-time allies had taken up sides with the opposition.

Speaking in the opening ceremony of the Fehiveni Community Center and N3 Park, President Yameen said that his one-time allies had joined the opposition upon exiting the Government. He added that those with distinguished records of service had joined forces with those who wished to see destruction.

President Yameen added that even though he had seen all, he was still befuddled by it all.

In his address, President Yameen said the systems in the Maldives were incomplete and this was as those who are to implement those systems were human, like democracy.

He said he had accepted the leadership of the nation, knowing there were many issues with the nation and with the intention of finding solutions to those issues.

President Yameen added that Government must be held accountable but that cannot be done by force. He noted that the Constitution and laws were stronger.

In spite of this proclamation, on the Independence Day the President said that the laws and Constitution were designed in a manner that ensured in a deadlock.
