JSC seeks to appoint chief judges to two courts
Deadline is set at 1pm, October 6
Only currently serving judges may apply

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is seeking to appoint chief judges to the High Court and Criminal Court of Maldives.

In an announcement publicized in the government gazette on Monday, JSC revealed that interested individuals will be required to forward their submissions before 1pm, October 6.

Submissions are to be forwarded to the commission’s email address,[email protected].

JSC added that only judges currently serving in both courts will be allowed to apply, to their respective courts.

A chief judge at the High Court receives MVR 38,000 as basic salary whereas a chief judge at the Criminal Court receives MVR 31,000 per month.

Appointees will be entitled to living allowances of MVR 15,000 as well as risk allowances amounting to MVR 3,300, revealed the commission.

JSC further stated that the appointment will be made under the set procedure and guidelines to be followed in appointing chief judges to Maldives courts.
