Monitoring measures have been placed in Kulhudhuffushi City and Nolhivaram island of Haa Dhaal atoll.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that monitoring measures will remain in place until the contact tracing is completed for the positive cases discovered on the northern islands.
Entering and exiting the island will be prohibited during this period.
HPA had informed the Kulhudhuffushi Council that monitoring measures are effective, at around 8:45pm, Friday.
The public health authority revealed that a crew member on board a vessel that frequently travels between the northern city and capital Malé City, had tested positive for Covid-19, after exhibiting symptoms.
Monitoring measures were placed in Nolhivaram for the same reason, at around 8:48pm, Friday.
On August 28, an individual who was transferred to the capital city after being treated at Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital had also tested positive for the infection, which was followed by the implementation of monitoring measures.
Maldives Covid-19 tally crossed 10,000 on Friday, with 75 new cases.
There are active cases in 22 residential islands and 26 resorts with the inclusion of 15 tourists and 30 resort workers. There are a total of 47 active Covid-19 cases in residential islands, including 34 Maldivians and 13 foreigners.
