Experienced coach in Maldives football, Ahmed Nashid has been appointed as the coach of Super United Sports, commonly known as SUS.

The football club is competing in the first division for the first time and Nashid has experience in coaching first division teams, having brought numerous achievements under his coaching experience.

Nashid took over the post under an agreement for a one-year period.

He last served as the coach for the under-19 national football team and was appointed the coach for the team on January 1 this year.

The country’s women’s national football team had won bronze in the South Asian Games held in Nepal in December 2019, under the instructions of Coach Nashid.

Some other notable contributions by Nashid include winning the championship title of the third division football tournament for the Dhivehi Sifainge Club during 2017.

The former Victory Sports Club player also coached United Victory and Club All Youth Linkage.

The club secured its spot in the upcoming season’s Dhivehi Premiere League as the runner-up team of the second division the previous season.

Both finalist teams of the last season’s second division secured spots in the first division of the upcoming season following the suspension of New Radiant Sports Club and Victory Sports Club who were placed in the second division.

According to the previous regulations, the lowest performing two teams of the league and the two teams with the most points from the second division finals secure spots in the first division of the next season.

Although Super United Sports is already preparing for the upcoming season’s Dhivehi Premiere League, the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) is yet to announce a date to kick off the new season. Despite having planned to kick-start the upcoming football season during December, the association’s president Bassam Adeel Jaleel has since announced that it is likely that the date will be postponed.
