The Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) is currently facing a lot of challenges in their work, after over 100 employees went into quarantine.

The company revealed that 110 employees had gone into quarantine after 49 staff members tested positive for the virus.

Out of the total, 33 employees have since recovered and 16 active cases remain.

Deputy Managing Director at the company, Yoosuf Siraj told RaajjeMV that employees in quarantine include those active on the streets collecting waste from households, call center workers, vehicle operators and those active at facilities.

Most of the employees in home quarantine were active on the streets collecting waste from households.

This has posed a number of challenges and delays in the company’s operations, especially in collecting waste from households.

Despite the many challenges facing the company’s work, Siraj assured that they will continue providing services without interruption, for which they have sought support from the general public.

WAMCO has urged the public to make sure they bag their waste properly and keep bags outside their buildings in a way that will be easy for collection.

There are around 800 individuals employed at WAMCO, currently.
