Maldivian has postponed a special flight scheduled to evacuate students from Malaysia.
The country’s national airline revealed that they had received numerous requests from students in Malaysia to change the date of the flight scheduled to Kuala Lumpur on September 10.
After taking the requests into consideration, the flight has since been rescheduled for September 20.
A one-way ticket for the Kuala Lumpur flight is priced at USD 385.
According to the set procedure, passengers who need to undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine period are required to bear the quarantine expenses themselves.
Malaysia is home to a sizable community of Maldivians, especially students many of whom have been returning to the island nation after Malaysia began closing off schools and universities due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
The country is currently preparing to reopen schools and universities as the Covid-19 situation has notably been improving in the country.
Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier revealed that work is underway to repatriate more Maldivians from several other countries in the future.
