The State Bank of India (SBI), housed in Gadhage’ Mohamed Fulhu Building in henveiru-ward of capital Malé City, is preparing to resume services on Sunday.
The building caught fire on Friday night after a fire that broke out in Café Tiolo spread to the top floors of the building.
The building houses five offices of the bank, which has stressed on the substantial amount of damage incurred due to the fire.
An office of Ooredoo Maldives is also stationed at Gadhage’ Mohamed Fulhu Building.
CEO of SBI’s branch in Maldives, Barat Mishra revealed that they incurred substantial damages to the first two floors and that the most damage was to furnishing and their computer systems.
Despite the damages, SBI revealed that they are working with relevant authorities to resume basic services by Sunday and went on to apologize to customers for any inconveniences.
No injuries were reported during Friday night’s fire, and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined as well.
