Covid-19: BML donates face shields to 10 hospitals nationwide

The Bank of Maldives (BML) has made a special donation of essential equipment to hospitals across the nation.

The country’s national bank revealed via Twitter that the donation of face shields was made to 10 hospitals across the island nation.

The donation was made to support the government’s response efforts to the global Covid-19 pandemic and is expected to assist healthcare workers and other essential workers on the frontlines of the response efforts during the ongoing crisis.

BML revealed that a total of 500 face shields were donated to 10 hospitals; Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), Haa Alif atoll hspital, Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital, Noonu atoll hospital, Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital, Vaavu atoll Hhospital, Faafu atoll hospital, Thaa atoll hospital, Gan Regional Hospital and Gaaf Alif atoll hospital.

The national bank expressed their belief that such essential supplies are crucial for frontline workers during this time, in accordance with the coronavirus statistics released by the Health Protection Agency (HPA).

In light of this, BML expressed joy in having made the donation and shed light on the importance of providing essentials especially to hospitals across the outlying atolls during this crisis.

As part of its efforts to ensure the safety of customers, BML has been providing online services during the pandemic, even having introduced a short-term financing scheme for customers.

Further, in order to assist citizens overcome the financial challenges facing the pandemic, BML has also launched personal, housing and business loans for the people, as well as introducing a deferment period for student loans and educational assistance loans.
