A toddler has tested positive for Covid-19.
The Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) revealed that the case was confirmed from a two-year-old girl in Vilifushi island of Thaa atoll.
HEOC revealed that the child’s Covid-19 test results came back positive after samples collected for testing to release her from quarantine.
At a time the infection has been detected from a number of outlying islands as well, authorities have revealed that since July 29, a total of 66 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in outlying atolls.
Currently, there are active Covid-19 cases in Filladhoo and Ihavandhoo islands of Haa Alif atoll, Naavaidhoo island of Haa Dhaal atoll, Milandhoo island of Noonu atoll, Kurimbi island of Haa Dhaal atoll, Kamadhoo and Kudarikilu islands of Baa atoll, Hulhudhuffaaru island of Raa atoll, Naifaru island of Lhaviyani atoll, Thulusdhoo island of Kaafu atoll, Himmafushi island of Kaafu atoll, Maamigili island of Alif Dhaal atoll, Keyodhoo island of Vaavu atoll, Madifushi and Vilifushi islands of Thaa atoll, Hithadhoo and Feydhoo in Addu City. Fuvahmulah City and Nilandhoo island in Faafu atoll.
Although the recent surge in Covid-19 cases prompted a curfew in the Greater Malé Region, authorities remain determined not to impose a second lockdown.
