An 83-year-old man was pronounced dead upon arrival at IGMH on Thursday

A deceased individual has tested positive for Covid-19.

An 83-year-old man who was taken to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital on Thursday.

The Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) revealed this during Thursday night’s presser, where the center’s spokesperson, Dr. Nazla Rafeeq revealed that the man was rushed to hospital at around 7pm, Thursday.

As per protocol, the deceased was tested for Covid-19 and his result came back positive for the infection.

Authorities are currently working to figure out whether the death can be deemed a Covid-19 death.

Dr. Nazla added that the deceased had not shown any symptoms of the virus before being rushed to the hospital.

So far, authorities have no identified any contacts of the deceased, through contact tracing.
