41 individuals apply for CSC membership; forwarded to committee
The names were forwarded to the parliament's committee on independent institutions for further review

The names of the 41 individuals that submitted applications for Civil Service Commission (CSC) membership have been forwarded to the parliament’s independent institutions’ committee, for further review.
While CSC comprises of five members, there is only one member currently; Fathmath Amira.
Three of the members- including President Ali Shameem, Vice President Shaheed Mohamed and member Zakariyya Hussain- resigned from the commission in July, amid impeachment motions.
Ibrahim Shaheeq, who did not resign with the rest, was dismissed through the People’s Majlis on July 13. 48 lawmakers voted in favour of Shaheeq’s removal.
Following this, opportunity to apply for CSC membership was opened from 14-21 July. This was later extended until August 6.
