Authorization of travel and ferry services between islands where Covid-19 cases have not been reported, is still in place

The government is to authorize travel between inhabited islands and Maldives capital, Malé City, without any restrictions, from July 1.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that as the country enters phase three of the lockdown ease plan on Wednesday, a number of restrictions are being lifted.

As such, all travel restrictions placed between inhabited islands and the Greater Malé Region due to the Covid-19 pandemic, have been lifted.

Further, the authority urged the relevant service providers to adhere to regulations and instructions under the ease plan, when arranging travel between islands.

The authorization of travel and ferry services between islands where Covid-19 cases have not been reported, is still in place, said HPA.

The same protocols are still being followed in sending island residents from the capital city to their islands, and if the island is one where Covid-19 cases have been reported, the residents who return will be subject to 14-days in quarantine at home.
