Maldives Film Association has donated protective equipment required in the Covid-19 response efforts by the government, to the Maldives Police Service (MPS).

Police made the reveal via Twitter on Sunday, expressing gratitude for the generous donation and humble act of courtesy towards police officers from the entertainment industry.

The donation includes 1,000 surgical masks, 1,000 gloves and 100 sanitizer bottles.

Local movie stars Niuma Mohamed and Jaadullah joined the association’s president Abdulla Shivaz in handing the donation over to the police department.

The event was joined by Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed as well.

This comes at a time the authority has been receiving a number of donations from private companies as well as individuals.

Police officers are active on the frontlines of the country’s battle against the Covid-19 pandemic, on a round-the-clock basis and relevant authorities have been urging individuals to make a habit of using face masks, hand sanitizers and hygienic practices, as part of the new normal.
