Covid-19: Maldives confirms 16 new cases, recoveries reach 1,153
14 cases announced on Thursday include five locals
A two-year-old is among the cases announced
While 1,153 people have recovered, there are currently 813 active cases

Five more locals have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Maldives, as well as nine foreigners.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) reported 14 new cases on Thursday; five locals, eight Bangladeshis and one Sri Lankan nationals.

A two-year-old is among the cases announced on Thursday, while the remaining are between the ages of 20 and 55.

While this pushes the country’s Covid-19 case count to 1,976, an additional 32 recoveries were announced on Thursday as well.

Hence, a total of 1,153 patients have recovered from the virus thus far and there are currently 813 active cases in the country.

There have been eight Covid-19 related deaths; four locals and four Bangladeshi nationals.
