Police permits during lockdown
Police begins issuing business permits through their online portal
The permits were earlier issued through the city council

On May 29, authorities began implementing the lockdown ease plan and is currently in phase one

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has begun issuing business permits through their online permit.

The service was being provided by the Malé City Council when the police service made the announcement via Twitter on Wednesday night.

As such, police revealed that business permits may be requested through the police online portal from Wednesday onward.

No reasons have been disclosed regarding this change.

On May 29, authorities began implementing the lockdown ease plan and is currently in phase one, where a number of precautionary measures are still in place. Under the first phase, a number of shops have been permitted to open its doors for services from 9am to 9pm.

Businesses that are allowed to operate during phase one of the ease plan include supermarkets, bakeries, corner stores, bookshops and hardware stores.

During the lockdown period, individuals were given a one-hour period to go out for essentials and the protocols to operate services at local shops have also been amended. As such, shops will be open from 9am to 9pm.
