Covid-19 restrictive measures
Number of Covid-19 measures eased in Fuvahmulah City
Shops have been opened for service
Food carts, restaurants and cafés have also been opened
The measures were eased in light of the current situation

The Fuvahmulah City Council has eased a number of measures implemented in the city due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Earlier this month, City Council implemented several measures under powers vested to the council under the public health protection act. These measures were taken for the greater good of the people, noted the council.

The ease on measures is to be in effect from May 23, Saturday onward.

As such, shops, restaurants, cafés and well as local food carts have been opened for business, weeks after they were ordered to close down.

Services at these places are to be provided under the protocols set by the council.

Further, carpentry shops, salons, garages, workshops and tailor shops are also to remain open for services from Saturday.

The council closed down “Naibuthuthu Magu” from 4pm to 12am on May 2, which has also been lifted.

The decision to lift some of the precautionary measures against Covid-19 is followed by the current situation of the city, said the council.

Despite the ease on measures, city residents are still urged to avoid gatherings of more than three individuals, practice social distancing, adhere to instructions given by the relevant authorities, and practice hygienic measures, overall.

Individuals are also to pay special attention to follow the guidelines set by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs when praying in congregation.
