Six individuals arrested on allegations of sorcery in AA. Ukulhas, have been released on Monday.

The six individuals, including AA. Council vice president Moosa Naeem, were arrested on February 5, under a court order. They were given a 15-day remand, when taken to Criminal Court for their remand hearing.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, their defense lawyer Nazim Abdul Sattar said that his clients were released on Monday afternoon. Police took their statements on Wednesday.

The other five individuals arrested were; Ibrahim Suzain, Abdulla Waheed Ali, Saudhulla Ibrahim, Fikuree Haneef and Abdulla Saeed.

They were arrested for allegedly "making a grave" on a road in the island, in front of the home an MDP activist, Shinaz Moosa, for defecting to the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM). 

Ukulhas Council member, Ali Zameer said that six members of the opposition MDP were arrested "because they do not know any other way to take majority in the upcoming Local Council Election."
