Another white alert has been issued over southernmost Addu City, following predictions of squally monsoon activities in the region.
The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) issued the white alert on Friday afternoon, from Laamu Atoll to Addu City.
The advisory states that heavy rain showers and thunderstorms are expected to prevail over the region, with winds gusting at 50 miles per hour.
The alert is in effect from 3pm to 7pm.
MET earlier on Friday issued two white alerts, one from Haa Alif to Addu City, and the other was issued from Thaa atoll to Addu.
The white alerts are among several issued in the region over the course of the past few days, especially due to adverse weather conditions in the south.
The southernmost city has been severely affected by heavy rain showers which caused deep flooding throughout most of its districts, since the southwest monsoon began. The monsoon has wreaked havoc across the city, inflicting damage that is heavier than ever before.
The department urged individuals to be cautious of the adverse weather conditions and strong monsoon activities such as heavy rain and strong winds.
Choppy seas will prevail throughout the country with the possibility to swell wave surges during high tides, MET warned.
