22 cases were filed at the High Court amid the Covid-19 lockdown.

The court had arranged for cases to be filed via online medium, after closing doors following the public health emergency announced across the country on March 12 in efforts to curb a Covid-19 community spread in the island nation.

In a statement released on Wednesday, High Court said that 17 of the 22 cases filed were accepted and that seven monitor and control orders were issued via video conferencing.

While the President’s Office called to ensure that the justice systems remains functional despite the COvid-19 precautionary measures, the High Court had issued a set of guidelines on court proceedings.
