Four Covid-19 patients have been placed on ventilators.

While it was previously revealed that three patients are on ventilation, Dr. Ibrahim Afzal had at Monday night’s press briefing revealed that an additional patient has been placed on a ventilator.

The doctor had previously revealed that two out of the three patients being treated at DH11 of Dharumavantha Hospital were on ventilators, as well as one patient – a foreigner – at Tree Top Hospital.

At Monday’s press conference, Dr. Afzal said that 11 patients are currently receiving treatment at Tree Top Hospital and that one has been placed on a ventilator; also, a foreigner.

Those on ventilation at DH11 are Maldivian, a 70-year-old and 88-year-old; a 80-year-old woman is also being treated there.

The two patients on ventilators at Tree Top Hospital are a 54-year-old and 29-year-old; both men.

While Maldives has confirmed 862 Covid-19 cases, 31 have recovered and there have been three fatalities.

Authorities have said that the next two weeks are critical in the fight against the virus, with a peak projected on May 31. 281 are projected to be admitted at hospitals, while 101 patients are estimated to require intensive care that day.

The 11th floor at Dharumavantha can provide treatment for 10 patients at full capacity, while Tree Top Hospital can treat up to 180.
