16 new Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in the Maldives, pushing the country's total to 573.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that these are nine Maldivians, six Bangladeshis and one Sri Lankan.

Six new cases were reported earlier on Tuesday.

18 people have recovered, and there have been two Covid-19 related deaths including one on Tuesday.

A Bangladeshi national who was taken to IGMH after suffering “a tonic-clonic seizure” passed away on Tuesday morning. The 33-year-old had also tested positive for Covid-19. While his death has been ruled as 'a hemorrhagic stroke', it has been classified as a Covid-19 related death in accordance with World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines.
