The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has developed a Covid-19 prototype ventilator.

The MNDF technical team that created the “fully functional emergency ventilator” held a demonstration on Monday evening.

Chief of Defence Force, Major General Abdulla Shamaal praised the team on the "landmark occasion" while Defence Minister Mariya Didi said that she was “so impressed” with the MNDF team.

“They have developed their own ventilator and believe you me, it works”

The demonstration was held at an auditorium at the MNDF headquarters, with the defence minister, defence chief as well as vice chief Brigadier General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef in attendance.

Noting that this is a prototype, MNDF said that such devices will only be used after proper tests and trials.
