While an elderly woman from Manadhoo island in Noonu atoll has tested positive for Covid-19, authorities have said that her test results had come back after being discharged from hospital.
Dr. Ibrahim Afzal revealed this at the Covid-19 daily press conference on Friday night.
Noting that the woman had consulted at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) with stomach pains, the doctor said that her samples were taken for testing “as per procedures”. He added that she had not exhibited any Covid-19 like symptoms.
Dr. Afzal said that she had been released from hospital when her test results came back, adding that she was staying at a guesthouse.
Contact tracing is underway, both in the capital and Manadhoo island.
An official from Noonu Atoll hospital said that she had consulted there on April 29, and that she was brought to the capital on Thursday. They are to have been informed of her test results on Friday evening.
While a nurse had arrived with the patient, this individual has since returned to Manadhoo and has been told to self-isolate.
