An additional Covid-19 patient has been hospitalized following complications.

Dr. Ibrahim Afzal said that six patients are currently hospitalized, at the daily Covid-19 press conference held at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) on Thursday night.

Five were being treated at the hospital previously, with three at higher risk of complications.

Dr. Afzal on Thursday revealed that hospitalized are five Maldivians and one foreigner; five men and one woman.

Noting that all six are “stable”, the doctor said that two are receiving oxygen treatment.

While Dr. Afzal did not mention the nationality of the foreigner receiving treatment at the hospital, it was previously disclosed that a Pakistani national was admitted after requiring oxygen support.

Earlier on Thursday, Health Minister Abdulla Ameen confirmed Maldives’ first Covid-19 related death. 83-year-old Aminath Adam was rushed to the hospital with breathing difficulties on Wednesday evening, she was pronounced dead on arrival; her test results came back after her death.
