Covid-19 situation in Maldives
Four vessels currently under monitoring, including 'Amaaz' boat
Authorities on Saturday reported that the boat's captain had tested positive
98 people are to have travelled to the north on the boat, which departed the capital on April 15
A community transmission was confirmed in the city the same day

Four vessels are currently under monitoring as Covid-19 contact tracing continues.

This was revealed at the Covid-19 daily press conference held at the National Emergency Center (NEOC) on Sunday night.

Speaking there, spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Aziz said that four vessels including a fishing boat are currently under monitoring status. They are;

  1. Noofaru Express – since April 19
  2. Kaaviya Express – since April 19
  3. Dhuru Raastha 8 - Fishing Vessel – since April 21
  4. Amaaz Boat – since April 25

Amaaz boat was placed under monitoring after its captain tested positive for Covid-19.

The 49-year-old man, Maldivian, tested positive for the virus after taking 98 passengers to 13 islands in the north in mid-April. Authorities had on Saturday said that 51 contacts of his had been identified, and appealed to the rest of those that travelled via the boat to report to authorities.

Amaaz boat is to have left the capital on April 15, the same day a community transmission was confirmed in the city, and is to have travelled on both the 15th and 16th.

The boat took passengers to 13 islands in the north, they are;

  1. Maafaru, Noonu
  2. Henbadhoo, Noonu
  3. Miladhoo, Noonu
  4. Kendhikulhudhoo, Noonu
  5. Velidhoo, Noonu
  6. Holhudhoo, Noonu
  7. Narudhoo, Shaviyani
  8. Funadhoo, Shaviyani
  9. Milandhoo, Shaviyani
  10. Feevah, Shaviyani
  11. Maaungoodhoo, Shaviyani
  12. Dhihdhoo, Haa Alifu
  13. Utheemu, Haa Alif

Further, monitoring measures on Maldiviana Safari has been lifted. Mabrook had previously said that the measures remained on the vessel until disinfection procedures completed.
