Following an upturn in customer requests, the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) has begun selling and delivering bin bags to customers.
This comes at a time the Greater Malé Region has been locked down following the discovery of a community transmission of the Covid-19 pandemic on April 15. Since then, authorities have banned local shops from remaining open for services. However, the government has facilitated the delivery of essential items to household through shops.
Following this, WAMCO revealed that the biggest issue noted by customers is the hindrances being faced in buying waste disposal bags.
Customers are requested to message WAMCO through 7621666 on Viber as call orders will not be accepted.
Orders will be taken between 10am and 4pm, customers have been asked to follow instructions by the company while placing orders.
As such, customers must note their account numbers, addresses, and details of their orders as well as their names while placing orders.
WAMCO revealed that they only accept online bank transfer for payment and customers are to transfer only once they are requested, to the Bank of Maldives account number 7730000058275 of Waste Management Corporation.
The company has also listed a few simple tips to follow when purchasing waste disposal bags such as buying three packs of XL bags per household, per day. Each pack will hold 60 waste disposal bags and is priced at MVR 150.
In addition, the company will be providing delivery services to Malé, Villimalé as well as Hulhumalé. Deliveries will be dispatched within three days of placing the order.
At a time WAMCO has begun selling and delivering waste disposal bags, the company has been urging customers to reduce the amount of household waste as much as they can. WAMCO employees will be collecting waste bags that are placed at the roadside from 12pm to 2pm.
