Five of the confirmed Covid-19 patients in the Maldives are children.
While two of these cases were announced on Friday, it includes the child and sibling of previously confirmed cases.
As such, Case 117 announced on Friday is a 12-year-old boy and child of Cases 28 and 31. Their eight-year-old child (Case 33) tested positive on April 18.
In addition, authorities on Friday revealed that a four-year-old Sri Lankan child (Case 112) has also tested positive for Covid-19.
It was previously revealed that a toddler had also contracted the virus; this is the child of the first confirmed case in the capital, a 35-year-old woman.
Further, a 15-year-old has also tested positive, this is the child of Cases 23 and 24.
While the youngest person to contract the virus in the Maldives is the toddler, the oldest is an 80-year-old man. He is currently admitted at Dharumavantha Hospital for close monitoring, and authorities had said that the man had been bedridden for two years after suffering a stroke when he contracted the virus.
