Two more people have tested positive for Covid-19 from the capital.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced this via Twitter, adding that they are one Maldivian and one Bangladeshi national.

Noting that the two are being transferred to an isolation facility, HPA said that they are working to establish links with any of the current cases.

15 people tested positive for Covid-19 from the city on Monday. These are; nine Maldives, two Bangladeshi and four Indian nationals.

While five of the cases (Cases 53, 54, 58, 59 and 60) have no connection to any of the previously confirmed cases, the latter two are linked to each other; both are workers at Ihsaan Fihaara (shop).

The remaining cases announced on Monday:

  • Case 55: Maldivian, a contact of Patient 29, tested despite no symptoms while in isolation
  • Case 56: Maldivian, contact of Patient 34
  • Case 57: Maldivian, contact of Patient 29
  • Case 61: contact of Patient 36
  • Cases 62, 63 and 64: contact of Patient 28
  • Case 65, 66 and 67: contacts of Patient 29

The two new cases announced on Tuesday brings the city's Covid-19 case count to 49, and the country's to 69.
