Three foreign workers were injured after being struck by lightning, in Uhdhoo island of Dhaalu atoll.
Police said that the incident was reported at around 11:20pm on Saturday, adding that the atoll has been experiencing thunderstorms.
While three people were injured in the strike, police said that none of them sustained serious injuries.
Uhdhoo island is leased to a company for agricultural purposes, and a doctor employed by the company had treated the injured workers.
Police further said that the heavy showers across the atoll has affected other islands as well, adding that some electronics at the police station at Bandidhoo island were damaged as well.
According to the Maldives Meteorological Center's general weather forecast, heavy showers are expected in central and southern atolls with scattered rains across the country.
