A pregnant woman is among 14 positive Covid-19 cases from capital Malé City.
This was revealed at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC)’s daily press briefing on Saturday, by spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Aziz.
Six of the cases were confirmed on Saturday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 34.
There are currently three known clusters in the city, and the first case was discovered last Wednesday. A woman, Patient 21, tested positive upon presenting to the flu clinic despite no recent travel history, and two direct contacts of hers have tested positive as well including her child; a toddler. She is to have exposed at least 207 others, and 75 of them are at high-risk of infection.
Three contacts of her second contact, also a woman, have also tested positive.
Two other clusters were confirmed on Friday, after two individuals with Covid-19 like symptoms testing positive upon presenting the flu clinic. These two cases have no links to each other, or with any of the previously confirmed cases.
Hence, Patient 27 and Patient 28 are two separate clusters.

Cluster 3
While Mabrook noted that one of the women is pregnant, he did not specify a case number. However, he stressed that she is under close monitoring.
He also noted that all patients currently receiving treatment are in stable condition.
Prior to Wednesday, Maldives had only imported cases either of foreigners at tourist establishments or locals that returned from abroad and were immediately quarantined.
