A second flight carrying Maldivians that were stranded in Trivandrum, India amid the Covid-19 crisis, has landed at Velana International Airport.
A total of 205 Maldivians were evacuated from Trivandrum on Saturday.
Two repatriation flights from the neighboring nation arrived on Saturday, with the first flight carrying 50 passengers landing at around 12 pm. The second flight landed around 3:30pm.
Announcing the arrival of the second flight, the national airline Maldivian said that a total of 205 Maldivians were evacuated from Trivandrum on Saturday.
The Maldives Consulate General in Trivandrum assisted in the evacuation efforts.
While a national airline flight departed to Trivandrum on Saturday morning, it carried over 150 care packages from families of Maldivians living there. The packages will be delivered through the Consulate, due to the lockdown declared in the neighboring nation.
Maldivian airline has been conducting repatriation flights since last week with the first one arriving with 199 Maldivians from Colombo in Sri Lanka. A second flight evacuated 189 people from Cochin, while 197 people returned from Malaysia last Wednesday.
All arrivals are being quarantined in government designated places and will be tested for Covid-19 before release, while issuing of on-arrival visas have been suspended since March 27.
