Police arrested a 25-year-old suspect on Monday as well

The police have arrested a second individual in the murder of 29-year-old blogger Yameen Rasheed.

The police’s media official declined to make a comment on the arrest.

RaajjeMV understands that the apprehended individual is employed at a state office.

The police had on Monday arrested an individual named Mohamed Dhifran in relation to their investigation into the murder, he has been given a remand of 15 days. 

The 25-year-old’s residence had also been searched, which is located close to where the murder had happened.  

Dhifran had reportedly been escorted to the search, which happened at around 11 am, after he had been kept in detention since early morning on Monday - his family said he had not been home since dawn.

Yameen Rasheed was found with over 14 stab wounds inside his home in M. Spatula at around 2:56 am on 23rd April.
