The deputy commissioner of Customs was appointed as the acting in-charge following the death of Commissioner General Ahmed Numan.

Shareef was appointed as deputy commissioner in July 2019, and has served there for 27 years. He previously served as a senior superintendent and has a Masters in Administration.

Ahmed Nooman passed away last Tuesday, at the age of 47, while receiving medical treatment in neighboring India.
