Former MP Abdulla Jabir, who is also a prominent businessman, has been made a personal adviser to former President Mohamed Nasheed.

Jabir, whose ventures namely Yacht Tours and J Hotels and Resorts have previously made headlines, was given this position on Wednesday.

He has been a member of both the Maldivian Democratic Party and the Jumhooree Party, having served as the deputy leader of the latter as well.

The former parliamentarian, who is now residing in Sri Lanka, thanked the MDP’s national assembly for deciding to appoint him to the position.
