Covid-19: Supreme court suspends hearings as part of efforts to curb spread
All hearings slated between March 19th to 26th have been cancelled
These will be rescheduled for the earliest dates.
The decision is in compliance with the state of health emergency declared on March 12th

The Maldives' Supreme court has temporarily suspended hearings for a period of one week.

The decision was taken in compliance with the state of health emergency declared across the country to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the Maldives.

According to the Supreme Court, all hearings slated between March 19th to 26th have been cancelled and will be rescheduled for the earliest dates.

Upon the recommendation of the Cabinet, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih declared the upcoming week a government holiday, effective from 19th March onwards.

Likewise, the parliament has also temporarily halted sittings for the upcoming week as well.

The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) has urged all citizens to practice social distancing and self-isolation as preventive measures against the spread of Covid-19.
