Former President Mohamed Nasheed has been appointed as the Chairman of the Advisory Board of Port Technology International (PTI). In this role, he will provide strategic guidance to the organization and support its international projects and initiatives.
Under this mandate, Nasheed’s primary focus will be on two significant upcoming publications within PTI’s "Global Transformation Series." The first volume, titled *Mawani: The Transformation of Saudi Arabia’s Ports*, will examine the evolution of Saudi Arabia’s port network, its leadership, and investment programs. It will further explore the nation’s strategic logistics objectives under the "Vision 2030" framework. The book is scheduled for release in both print and digital formats.
Furthermore, Nasheed will contribute to the development of the second book in this series, titled "10 Fastest-Growing Ports in South and Central America." This annual report is scheduled for release at the "CTAC Americas" conference, which will be held in Panama in 2027. Published in both print and digital formats, the report will analyze ports that play a pivotal role in regional growth, investment, and trade across South and Central America. Additionally, it will examine the critical importance of resilient infrastructure for climate-vulnerable economies in the face of evolving environmental challenges.
During his tenure, Nasheed will participate in special events and international meetings organized by the PTI. This engagement aims to assist the organization in bridging connections between industry experts and key policymakers leading the advancement of international trade and maritime transport.
Regarding his appointment to the PTI Advisory Board, Nasheed stated that joining the board is a profound honor.
"This initiative will bolster my ongoing efforts to promote sustainable development. It also provides an opportunity to contribute to a vital platform that has commanded industry trust for over three decades. The work being done by PTI to advance the sector serves as a robust foundation for deep discussion and for finding solutions to the environmental challenges facing the industry."Mohamed Nasheed, former president.
Among the most recent high-level positions held by former President Nasheed, who also served as the Chairperson of the MDP, is his role as the Secretary-General of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) and the V20 Finance Ministers, a term spanning from 2023 to April 2026. Throughout his political career, he has worked closely with international leaders and governments across Europe, North America, the Gulf region, and South Asia.
