The government investigative committee for public housing schemes has halted the physical verification process for applicants under the government’s “Hiyaa” housing scheme.
This decision is temporary, revealed the committee.
It was taken with the aim to increase safety for the public during this critical time and the committee noted that a public announcement will be made before they begin the physical verification process after the break.
This decision comes amid mounting fears of the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), which was declared as a global pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) very recently.
The “Hiyaa” housing scheme was launched during the administration of now incarcerated, former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
There are 13 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the country, as of Sunday.
