The World Health Organisation (WHO) has donated 5,000 test kits for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) to the Maldives.
During a special ceremony held at the National Emergency Operations Centre on Sunday, Minister Abdulla Ameen signed the handover agreement on behalf of the Maldives while the WHO Representative for the Maldives, Dr Arvind Mathur signed on behalf of the international health agency.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Ameen stated that efforts are ongoing to increase the country's diagnostic testing capacity and competency.
Likewise, Dr Arvind highlighted that Maldives' efforts have been according to WHO's guidelines.
The World Health Organization (WHO) earlier donated 1,000 test kits to the Maldives.
