LCE2020: Opposition campaign cut off short due to Covid-19 fears
Arrangements have been made for the opposition's campaign teams to return back to the capital due to the potential risk of a COVID19 outbreak in the country.
The decision was made in consideration of the dangers and losses facing citizens if such a dangerous infection was allowed to spread in such a small nation, said the coalition.
Additionally, the opposition has appealed for the government to take all necessary steps and precautions against COVID19

The opposition Progressive Coalition's campaign trips for the upcoming Local Council and Women's Development Committee Elections have cut been short over fears of the rapid spread of novel coronavirus (COVID19) across the globe.

According to a press statement released on Saturday, arrangements have been made for the opposition's campaign teams to return back to the capital due to the potential risk of a Covid-19 outbreak in the country.

The decision was made in consideration of the dangers and losses facing citizens if such a dangerous infection was allowed to spread in such a small nation, said the coalition.

Additionally, the opposition has appealed for the government to take all necessary steps and precautions against Covid-19 and has urged the government to transparently inform citizens of the country's current situation in regard to Covid-19.

The statement further reads that the coalition will always prioritise the best interests of the country, as well as the safety and security of all Maldivian citizens.
