The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has begun identifying places visited by a South American tourist testing positive for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID19) infection after confirming that the tourist did indeed travel to the Maldives.
The tourist from Chile arrived in the Maldives on March 3rd, revealed HPA, stating that the agency has begun efforts to identify all the places that the individual has visited in the country. They also stated that these places will be regularly monitored for individuals showing symptoms of infection.
HPA further assured that all individuals entering the country are being screened and monitored at the airport since January.
As such, the agency revealed that a Maldivian returning from Italy was placed under quarantine on Thursday. The individual was put under isolation because they had returned from a country where outbreaks have emerged, said HPA, adding that the individual was released after their test results came back negative.
