Five Maldivians have been arrested in possession of two cases of alcohol, reveals Maldives Police Service (MPS).
On Sunday, authorities revealed that five Maldivians in possession of two cases of alcohol were taken under arrest during a special operation conducted to crack down on illicit substances.
Following a tip-off claiming that a group of men were transporting alcohol from the Hulhumale' cargo jetty area, police apprehended a 21-year-old, a 28 year old and a 23-year-old as well as a 22-year-old and a 29-year-old. All suspects taken under custody were Maldivian men, revealed authorities.
They were arrested on February 29th, said authorities.
The two cases of alcohol were found after the group of men were stopped and searched at the Hulhumale' cargo jetty area.
The case is currently undergoing further investigation.
