There is corruption in this administration as well but action is guaranteed to be taken: MP Azim
Azim's statement comes at a time when allegations of ongoing corruption within the current government has surfaced.
MP Azim stated that corruption will inevitably be found in every government, adding that it would not be wrong to state that corruption is ongoing within the incumbent administration as well.
However, there is no doubt that both President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the People's Majlis will take the necessary action against such perpetrators, said Azim.

There will be cases of corruption in the incumbent administration as well but necessary action is guaranteed to be taken against them, says main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party's (MDP) parliamentary group leader and MP for Central Henveiru, Ali Azim.

Azim's statement comes at a time when allegations of ongoing corruption within the current government has surfaced.

Speaking on RaajjeTV's "Fala Suruhee" program, MP Azim stated that corruption will inevitably be found in every government, adding that it would not be wrong to state that corruption is ongoing within the incumbent administration as well. However, there is no doubt that both President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the People's Majlis will take the necessary action against such perpetrators, said Azim.

Azim further stated that unlike the 18th parliament, members of the 19th parliament - including the opposition- have the freedom and opportunity to voice their concerns regarding issues within the current administration.

Additionally, Azim claimed that there will be differences of opinion even within MDP. Nevertheless, while noting that parliament members are elected to hold the state accountable, Azim stated that this does not mean blindly following the government's instructions.

Azim went onto highlight that even President Solih encourages state accountability. Azim also highlighted that the president has repeatedly stated that the parliament is obligated to discuss issues within the government and that the administration will take necessary steps to combat said issues.
